can't locate file after I saved it in cloud

I imported a step file into Fusion 360 and saved it with a unique name.

I created CAM paths , output my post , closed it out.

I then went back to tweak an endmill that I included and I caan't locate the file in the cloud.

I have only one area and one folder that I keep everything.

what am I doing wrong? Does it need time to be located in the Cloud?

any insight or help greatly appreciated.

In the Data Browser click the back arrow

Clipboard01.png

Then select My Recent Data and see if it's there.

If not I don't suppose you have more than one account.

thank you for your reply.

I did check where you suggested, to no availe.

let me step through what I initially did, because this is rather bad.

I had a geometry file in the form of a step file already residing in my computer.

in Fusion 360  I initiated a new file by selecting, File>New design from  file. I gave the file a name. The item imported flawlessly.

I then immediately switched to CAM and set tool paths and produced a Post file.

I closed out Fusion 360 went out to the shop, found an endmill was different than what i had input in the CAM. went back to office and the file is not available .

did i not do something right by closing out fusion without purposely saving the already existing file? when I closed , there was no prompt or anything.

What you describe doesn't sound right. After you use New Design From File and the file opens you would have to click the save icon to save to the cloud. Also after adding the CAM work the file is in an unsaved state so when you close Fusion you should get a warning to save the file. One thought you doen't have 2 copies of Fusion running at the same time, is there a copy open hidden behind another program, check your task bar.

I know what you mean with the prompting to save and all.... but it didn't show up when I closed out. I checked task manager, and I only have on Fusion 360 running.

Also, I had presence of mind to make a diagnostic Log the moment I found out I had lost the file. But direct contact with autodesk help is rather protected and hidden. so contacting someone with this log file is my next step but ..... who , and where? sigh*

Data is saved locally and then synced with the Autodesk 360 project (you should choose this during the save process).  Thi s process is pretty hard to miss in the UI, there's a progress meter and some status in the upper toolbar. Do you recall seeing this?

The applog files located in the Autodesk Fusion 360 folder of the diagnostic log file wil contain a record of what has been synced and saved with the Autodesk 360 Project. You should be able to post the files here, of if you feel like it you may e-mail them to me at Nathan.Chandler@autodesk.com.

Another thing you may consider trying is to go into offline mode in Fusion 360. If you saved the file, it will be cached locally on the computer and you will find it in the data panel.

I've sent you a screencast via PM that may also help clear some things up about closing unsaved documents and about the Autodesk 360 project.

Hopefully one of these suggestions will get us close. Please let me know if you have any questions. @HughesTooling Thanks for the tag!

Ok thank you.

I entered offline mode and the file was there. I opened the file and closed out "offline mode" and choae file>save as  and then it was saved to the cloud.

was an important solution. I am considering switching , in earnest , to Fusion 360 from another well known cad software. Cloud type solutions make me antsy as it is. and this being a small file and part was a good thing as I wouldnt have wanted to go through this with a large and monitarily important project.

once again you two in this thread have been exteremely helpful. thank you.
