Can't Delete Document

OK, after going thru the tutorial for a while I wanted to delete some of the objects used in the lessons. For some items it says they are in use and can't be deleted. Like in the import example (the tapered brick) I can't get rid of it. I can delete the nut and the handle but it won't let me delete the brick or my other imported item (the slide). As far as I know none of these items are used elsewhere - I just imported them and played around with them a bit. I tried deleting the actual object (the brick) in the drawing itself but that just gave me a new version with nothing in it. I tried as suggested in another post to do a Save As, then delete the old copy then the new copy but it won't let me do that either.

Whatever happened to: DELETE ... "Are you sure?" ... YES .... item gone!

Did you insert the designs into any other designs at any point? For example if you inserted one of the designs into another design and saved the file is still in use in the second files history. If you have inserted the designs into another you'll have to delete the assembly file first.

I have had similar issues with documents that have never been used anywhere else.  If you open the project in A360 hub sometimes you can see the red dot next to the file.  Mine says "in use by Lonnie Cady" even though they are not opened anywhere and I can seem to clear it.

Is Import-FPC011020 v4 still open in the desktop / web client. If yes, close it first.

Looking closer, it is open you can see it's name in the browser!    Woops no I see its V4 V1. Still have any of the version been used in other designs or 2d drawing.

Unless Fusion 360 does support multiple open documents EDIT: and multiple running instances of the program in different tabs and those tabs are not part of the screen copy - No I can't.

Thank you for replying.

No, it's not open in web view. It's not open anywhere that I can tell. And I haven't placed this into another design (don't even know how to yet). I've just imported them and played around with it some.

Is it me or is F360 kind of non-standard in the way it does things. It's anything but intuitive.

Try closing Fusion and use the online Dashboard  as @Lonnie.Cady said in the dashboard does it say it's in use.

It says it's not in use. So I go back to F360 and try to delete again and it will now allow it. It will allow deleting all of those items in the sidebar, whereas before it would only allow 2. Which brings me to the solution. Once I open any of those items it creates a tab for it, and until that tab is closed (even if not viewing that item at the time) it declares that item as in use. And while that behavior caused me some grief today, some day I might be glad it is this way.

Yes you certainly did and I just acknowledged that. But when you said "open" I thought you meant really open, as in looking at it. Even the tab just existing is enough for F360 to say it's in use. Kinda unlike quantum entanglement ... it's there whether you're observing it or not. 🙂

That's an interpretation of open - unfortunately this is just not the way
computers do work... or at least it's not common sense 😉
