Can't convert partial cone body into sheet metal (to unfold)

I'm trying to flatten a part of my design which is a partial cone. It simply doesn't convert to sheet metal.

Now I'm using a solid body that is 90degree revolved from a sketch (tried different thicknesses too). I've tried revolving a surface and thickening as well. It keeps giving the error: can't calculate body thickness'. I want to flatten the piece afterwards as a stencil, how can this be done?

You must add a dummy extruded flat face tangent to the curved face.  Does not have to be large.

Surface Revolve > thicken > extrude join.

Convert to SM

Unfold.

continue design steps.

Refold

Remove extruded piece

Search for Unwrap

Might help….
