Can't Add TTF Font.

I'm trying to add an embossed text onto an existing body, but the new font I've installed doesn't appear in Fusion 360, even after restarting the program and the computer.

I found a tutorial on how to create text via SVG, and that really isn't a long term workflow solution. I have no interest in downloading another program and adding 20 steps simply because Fusion won't recognise new fonts.

It has fonts that I've added on top of the default Windows options, but they were probably all there before I installed Fusion.

Furthermore, I imported an STL from text I created in 3ds Max, which works, except that it is imported as a mesh, and it won't Combine/Join to the main part body.

I read another tutorial on how to convert a Mesh to BRep, however the Modify/Mesh/Mesh to BRep directory doesn't exist. I then found another tutorial on how to enable Mesh Edit in Preferences/Preview in order to use the mesh to Brep feature. I did that, but there isn't a single feature I can find to convert a mesh to Brep! I only found BRep to Mesh, which is the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve.

I also tried converting the Mesh to a Component Body, because it's an option on the browser right-click menu, and this does nothing. I don't even know why it's an option if it doesn't work.

So, I can't add a TTF font, and I can't join a mesh to a body, and I can't convert a mesh to a body. Does Autodesk test the workflow of a feature when they relocate it? I've spent hours of work time trying to find a solution, and the Fusion help articles are out of date.

Hi @aaronsgreen,

I'm seeing some strange behaviour with this font in Fusion also. I installed the font on my Mac.  The font installed with no issues and I can see it in the dropdown list of text files in Fusion but the preview looks nothing like the font.  I brought the font into Adobe Illustrator and saw the font correctly in that application. Strangely, when I exported the text from Illustrator as SVG and bring it into Fusion, the preview of the SVG is also wrong.  Very odd.  I'm going to bring this to the dev team to take a look.

Hi @aaronsgreen

Thanks for reporting the issue. Currently we blocked some symbolic fonts because we have seen issues when using the fonts. For this font, as Colin pointed out, it doesn't work on Mac OS. If you are working on Windows, you can do the following steps to enable it:

1. In your modeling environment, press Ctrl + Alt + C, and you will see a "Text Commands" dialog at the bottom of the window;

2. In the text command input area, type "Sketch.TextWritingSystem /any"

3. Run the sketch text command again, you should be able to see the TRON font now.

Thanks for your research and help.

I'm using the latest Windows on Surface Pro 4.

When I type CTRL+ALT+C, nothing happens.

If I add text to the scene and scroll to the font location, the Tron font doesn't appear in the font menu. I haven't got to the point of selecting the font and not seeing it show in text.

Have you tried activating the text commands from the menu?

Using the menu worked. I can see the shortcut is next to it, but it definitely doesn't work either.

I typed the command into the box and I get this error:

Sketch.TextWritingSystem /any

Traceback (most recent call last):

File "<string>", line 1, in <module>

NameError: name 'Sketch' is not defined

I'd just like to emphasis that the font firstly doesn't appear in the font menu, even though it's been installed several times, and the program and computer restarted.

Some of the programers see the font in their font menu, then it doesn't show in the text in the scene. I don't get this far, as once again, the font doesn't appear in the menu.

Thank you for your patience. When you activated the text commands window, you will see three options on the bottom right: txt, py and js. Please select the "txt" option if it's not checked, then run the command "Sketch.TextWritingSystem /any" again.

Glad to hear it worked. We still have some trouble to load this font on Mac. Our team is investigating it.

yqliu,

What is the status of this? This has been a problem on Mac for years. Is a solution coming soon?

I noticed this as well (I have fonts I downloaded in 2004) Macs have multiple save locations for their fonts.

When you install your font you can view it in your Font book application, Click Show in finder and copy and paste this file into "HD/Library/Fonts" then reboot autodesk 360. I've only done this once, but I got one of my fonts to work.

What I think is happening is that when you look at your list of fonts in autodesk your seeing the list that Font book takes you to, but when you actually select the font it looks for the font in the file path I just described.

Is there any progress on this? When is it going to be fixed?

Thanks for the Tip on MAC.

My fonts were under Macintosh HD\User\user\Library\Fonts.

When I copied them to Macintosh HD\Library\Fonts and restarted F360 the font appeared correctly on the drawing.

Thanks

E

Thank you! Great solution This solved the problem for me!

In my case, an OTF font wasn't showing properly in the Fusion360 sketch. It was in the font drop down menu and you can select it, but in the model window it was using some standar font and not the one i was trying to use.
