cam and lifter motion

How do you create the motion of a cam and lifter assembly?  I can, with contact sets, get the cam to lift the lifter (also called follower) but the lifter stays in the uppermost position.  Usually it is valve spring pressure that keeps the lifter in contact with the cam.

Any ideas??

Thanks  CMP

Hey have you tried looking at using Motion Studies and Motion LInk to capture the motion?

I hope that helps!

Thanks,

I’m not sure if this will help you but I have attached a file you can look at to see how I got the motion of the wiper assembly to work.

Make sure the rest position of the slider is set to the down position. Sample file attached.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the input.  I have looked at both.  Is there a learning module  on motion study?  I can not get the capture position points on the time line.  I think I see how it should work but I'm missing something!

Later,

Thanks Mark,

Your suggestion works!!!!

Now I see how the "rest position" has it's effect on the entire motion.   I still want to understand how the "motion study" is used but for now my cam and lifter move as they should.

Thanks again, the Fusion community is absolutely great.
