I was going to write, "Chain select only works if the surface join is a tangent or smooth" but I found if you select an edge it will select all joined surfaces. See screencast.

It's a nice Tip, but that's not what Chain's means 😉

It shouldn't matter where you click is should take everything. Else, they should change it to "Chain Select" but only if you click on an edge!
