Bug? Can't turn on construction planes in browser tree

 I'm assuming this is a bug. The video describes the problem - I try to make a construction plane and get the warning that they're not visible. I can't turn on visibility, however, since the Construction folder is gone in the browser tree. What I don't show in the video is that going to another design tab works fine.

Holy cow - apparently the problem is that fusion 360 is running twice on my laptop. The same design is open in each instance of the application. One works correctly and the other one is missing the construction folder. How is this even possible?! Can I put in a feature request that disallows a second instance of Fusion 360 from opening?

You could put that in Idea Station.

It's a windows only thing, you can't launch two on a Mac. I tried and couldn't reproduce the problem on Windows. I guess for now, just be careful. If you can get it to repeat, please let me know the steps.

But would n't preventing two instances from opening go against the whole idea of F360 being a multi-designer tool where several can work together on the same design at the same time?

I'd suggest your problem is more of a synchronisation issue - maybe a bug. The two instances should, I think, either synchronize so they're identical, or else create two version trees. (Personally I prefer the former unless you deliberately create a divergent tree to try something out.) Basically two instances is just two views of the same model, unless you've created an alternate version.

Oh, I did accidentally hit a very similar situation myself recently, where I'd somehow opened 2 copies of my design. Yes it caused issues. I ended up closing both down and re-starting F360, which cleared the issue. So I suspect a synchronisation bug in F360 is lurking there somewhere...

Well, no, not on the same machine. But there have been times when I'd have liked to have 2 views of my model open at the same time so I could see the effect of making, say, a Sketch change or something. Unless I'm unaware, you cannot open multiple views in an F360 instance, so maybe opening 2 F360 instances on the same Design would give that 2nd view. Not the nicest of solutions!!! And no good if the instances don't synchronize - i.e. use the same model data cache.  Some other packages do allow the user to open up multiple views of the model so you can see effects from multiple directions, etc.   Maybe that's one for the Suggestions box...

Ah, thank you Peter. I'd not come across that to date - must have a look at it sometime.

There's always something new to learn with F360 (and life in general). I like it.
