[BUG] A Ghost after Scaling!

As you can see in the screencast, after scaling the component, the component shows a Ghost, while the Body is just fine. Cosmetically it is very annoying!

I think this is intended. Hovering over a component will show everything contained in that component including sketches. Since the scale only affected the body and not the sketch you get the ghost you are talking about. This doesn't mean that it isn't annoying but I don't think this is a bug. Smiley Happy

 

I could be wrong though. I'm curious to see what other people have to say.

I have scaled the component for a reason, I don't need to see a ghost of the previous size!

It is only showing the sketch you made. I believe that scale works by affecting the size of the body you edit and not the sketch used to create it. That's why it is showing the original sketch. 

 

Edit: It is not a ghost. It is showing the original sketch you created.

Scaling only affects the body, not the sketch.

Fusion has always highlighted the body and sletch when selecting the component in the browser.

It would be interesting to see if that is also the case when all sketches or the entire sketch folder are hidden.

I also don't understand, why would I want to scale the Body but not the Sketch. The sketch is useless after the body scale 😉

I disagree. For multiple iterations it is worth keeping around. 

 

Also there is a sketch scale tool that you can use instead that would only change the sketch diameter. Then you have control over the extrude height. The scale tool that you used scales the height as well as the diameter. For different end goals and workflows this could be useful.

Obviously, I'll not overwrite the original model! This is just a copy. The scale in the sketch environment has a problem.
This is not a big deal, it's just cosmetically annoying 🙂

I agree that it looks annoying. Its not really something you want showing up if you do a live review with a client...

 

Maybe after some more important issues with Fusion 360 get solved this could be an option to turn off?

That is not necessarily true when you have the timeline enabled.

 

The sketch and the extrude operation exist before the scaling operation in the timeline. You can still edit the sketch and the extrude oeration separately and then the scaling is applied the body.

I can see that as a useful feature.
