Browser F360 - Getting started feedback

Hi,

Been using Fusion for a while now, and knowing that alot of schools in the UK have installation problems with Fusion (usually an IT problem with firewalls and security settings policies - not Fusion), Some are also now looking at moving to Chrome books and cloud based solutions and starting to investigate cloud based solutions only like tinkercad and Onshape, I thought i would get on the preview so that I am able to test it first hand and also provide first hand feedback in conversations with Academia on how good it is going to be.

I am on a widows 7 pc using chrome - I fell into the initial trap of not watching out for the 'pop up blocker in chrome' It was only when I came onto this forum that i noticed the getting started blog - disabled the pop-up blocker and away i went.

The feel in the model environment is very similar to Fusion desktop and you do not feel as though you are working any differently than you would on the desktop. - The layout of the sketch and modelling tools is also consistent with Fusion desktop, I have noticed there is no trim or fillet tool in the sketch tools - are these on the roadmap?

I'm going to have a play on the ipad later and see how it functions on that - I will keep providing feedback as I go along

looking good though so far - keep up the great work

steve

Hi Steven

Sorry for the delay.  Thanks for taking the time to write this up.  My apologies that you did not get the welcome email with instructions, that was an oversight.

As for the trim and fillet.  Yes these are absolutely on the roadmap, however I don't know the schedule for when they will land.  Just a note, while we do not support trim right now you can simply delete existing sketch segments.

For the iPad: while it is functional, we still have some work to do. This too is on the roadmap.

Cheers

Jason

You mention trim by deleting sketch segments.  I have a circle with two tangent line segments at top and bottom.  I want to remove half of the circle.  The only segment I can select to delete is the full circle.  Am I missing something?  Trim is pretty critical to using Fusion, IMO.

Additionally, I don't seem to be able to select objects behind other objects by long clicking like in desktop.  In the example above, I have a dimension that I can't select because the closed shape is selected first.

I was excited to try this for workshop opportunities at our local makerspace, where we can't depend on users being able to download the desktop app on our limited connection.

The preview is a huge and amazing step, but I can't imagine using Fusion in the browser without these features.  I hope to see more features soon.

Hi @criznach,

Thanks for your feedback, it's very valuable.  Yes, those feature are all missing in the preview, and are all fairly high on the list of projects to address.
