Bring two bodies (or components) parallel to each other and really close

Two simple bodies. I want to move the top one very close but not touching the second one and I want to set a known distance, say 0.6mm. Just moving it by hand is trial and error. So I thought, a joint! But I am confused by the options for the joint. I assume I want a simple joint, which will be rigid and have one of the three dimensions set to 0.6 and the others to 0. I want the center point of both squares to coincide. But there is no point on the top body in that spot.

Hi

You can use constraints.

Hi,

Using the two bodies in the image as an example there a couple of ways that

you can do this accurately. While the Move command can work here it is not

commonly recommended as a solution for many reasons.

The first method I would use and is the simplest would be to draw both of these

shapes on a single plane and then use the Extrude command.

The end result is two objects that are 0.6mm apart.

Another method, and not the only method, is to use a standard

Plane for your first sketch and create an Offset Plane for the other

Sketch.

Both methods will work. Both methods have their advantages and

disadvantages.
