Bottom Toolbar has gone missing

Greetings,

When last Fusion 360 auto-updated, the bottom toolbar, normally visible in the Design screen, has gone missing.

I've uninstalled (using the Fusion 360 uninstaller ) and reinstalled 3 times using the current installer. In every case, the system appears to functions normally, except the bottom toolbar is missing. This is the one with the controls for constrained-orbit, panning, etc. Normally located to the right of the "Comments" box.

Below is a screen-shot with the cursor located where the bottom toolbar normally resided.

My System:

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015)

MacOS 10.13.6

Autodesk Fusion360 Version: 2.0.8950
Active Plan: Fusion 360, Student
macOS 10.13.6

As I'm not supre familiar with Fusion 360, I'm not sure if this is a bug or user-error.

Any thoughts?

-Sean

Did you try "Option+Command+N" to bring it back?

There is also a command under "application menu->View->Show Navigation Bar" to show/hide it.

Sally,

Thank you for the suggestion.

No luck, however.

Application-Menu->View->Show/Hide Navigation Bar has no visible effect on the system.

Neither does the keyboard shortcut, "Option+Command+N"

To ensure there wasn't something about my Autodesk account that was causing it, I tried running Fusion360 with a Trial License, but that made no difference either.

Its starting to feel a bit like a platform-specific bug.

If there are any log-files or stack-traces which might help debug this, I'm happy to fetch them and post them here.

Regards,

Sean

Hi,

I think it has something to do with your display settings.

I have just realised that this is not the case because your timeline is visible.

Terrific!

In the meantime, if your developers run across a temporary workaround in the course of addressing the issue, please let the world know.

Sorry, we haven't found any workaround to show it again in 10.13, but the fix should be released very soon.

Sally

Hi,

I've been using Fusion 360 for over a year now and today (or yesterday) the History and Navigation Bars disappeared!

I found this thread which suggests that a software update fixed it last time. I have just reinstalled, so has that fix been dropped?

Any help will be very gratefully received.

Cheers, 'Nic

Could this be the issue?

Hi John,

Thanks for your help but, sadly, it is not that easy. All that memu option does is change its text! In the background it is toggling something but the result doesn't reach the screen.
Also, I think I could live without the Navigation Bar. The missing History Bar is an entirely different matter! My current work is very heavily dependent on that.

Cheers, 'Nic

Hi,

Ah ha! Very interesting. I have resolved my problem. It was to do with the Windows application screen size.

I think that (I can't really remember now) when the window was at its maximised and restored sizes, the result was basically identical, with the Navigation and History Bars off screen! Swapping between the two sizes didn't help.
However, using an ancient Windows hot-key trick, I got things working again:
- Set the window size to 'Restore'. (Make sure that the screen size button in the top right show a plain square box.)

- Use Alt-Space to get the pop-up menu in the top-left.

- Select Size.

- Now use the cursor keys to reduce the window height and width. It's a bit fiddly but, as a Fusion 360 user, you will have the necessary patience!

Once the window is a more manageable size, you can tidy things up as you wish.

Whew!

Cheers, 'Nic
