BOM doesn't work

Basically BOM doesn't work in my top assembly. It used to. Then it just stopped working. Just shows one item - the top level assembly. And refuses to break it down. Works on smaller subassemblies individually. But on the top level one - no cigar.
I've tried clearing cache. Doesn't help. Anything else I could do? I am not allowed to share this project unfortunately.

If I'm not mistaken Fusion is only showing the top-level because the child components are probably set to the wrong BOM Structure (e.g., Reference instead of Normal) or are still linked references, which Fusion tends to collapse in the BOM; try right-clicking each subassembly in the browser → Component Properties → make sure BOM Structure is set to Normal, and if they’re linked, either break the link or promote them, since that usually fixes the issue—if not, inserting the whole subpack into a fresh design may rebuild the BOM properly.

If I was to take a guess however, I'd say it's probably say its because it looks like your components are all links still and need to be broken.

May help.

Well it used to work last week and before, that's the thing. I encountered this once but then I cleared the cache and restarted and it helped. The structure never changed, it is a classic bottom up design, all components are external. And it used to create a beautiful BOM for me, I got it exported and was about to even start coding an integration with our ERP system.
And it works for bottom up assemblies with external linked parts for sub-assemblies. It's just this large one that somehow doesn't work.
I don't even have Fusion Manage, I just use the BOM feature. I can't see where to edit BOM structure, I don't think this is available without Manage.

Bizzarly when I create a link to the BOM and open it in my browser it generates perfectly fine -

And if I export it into CSV it also works fine. It just doesn't display correctly in Fusion.

I'm not official or knowledgeable enough to give an answer for this.

However, I think what’s happening is that Fusion on the desktop sometimes collapses linked components in the top-level BOM because of caching—if the cache gets out of sync, it only shows the top-level instead of expanding the subassemblies. My educated guess is that the web BOM works fine because it pulls a fresh copy each time and doesn’t rely on the local cache, so it fully expands all linked parts, which is why it looks correct in the browser but not in the app.

Just a guess, but just to be safe.

@dsouzasujay , you can usually give an educated, evidence backed answer, any comment?

@aleksei_ovsienko  Can you please try saving the assy as a Milestone once and share what you see?

Oh! I actually saved it as Milestone and then switched it to "Released" in the BOM. Previously "Released" has been greyed out. But with the milestone, it allowed me to set it to Released. And bang - it works -
