Bevel embossed text on round object

Hi all,

Beginner here:)

Just started with 3d printing and my first steps in making something with my kid. Because of the 3 print we cant print 90 degree angles from the letters. See below for the example.

I want to bevel using the fillet or chamfer tool not to round the outside of the letters but to ease the transition from the bowl to the letter, so you don't have 90 degree over hangs.

How can i do that?  Tried  a lot, but we are stuck:)

Thanks!

Hello Danny-

The Emboss command doesn't have a draft option.  You can add a Chamfer to the text after it has been embossed.  Use the Chamfer command, then click on the face of the text and it will select all of the lines that are part of the face (cool tip).  You can then specify the depth and angle.  The only issue with this is it removes a lot of the "width" of the letter because of the angle.

Or, you could leave the text un-beveled and print with supports.  You might look into Tree Supports.  They would support the bottom of the text and would be easy to remove.

Hi,

Before selecting the elements, I would reduce the selection option to edges and through.
Start with a small bevel and increase it.
However, with the typeface and especially with the bend, it can happen that the bevel cannot be created in some places.

Thanks!

I tried tree support, but it gave me a worse result then without anything and a 2mm text:)

Let me try the other tip.

Thanks!
