Best way to prepare part for machining?

I've designed the attached part that I plan to maching using a Tormach CNC miller. I'm having trouble setting up a clearining strategy that doesn't collide with the stock. The stock is a 4"x4"x2.25" aluminum block. I plan to do a 2.5D milling process. I'd like to clear the front side of the piece and then do a 3D contour around the back and sides. However in my setup, both adaptive and pocket clearing collide into the stock. I'm designing for use of a 3/32" diameter, 1.5" length ball end mill. Is the tool size the problem?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for submitting your question here on the forums.

I think though based on what i see, i need to get your over to either our CAM Forum, the Inventor Forum or the Fusion Forum depending on if you're using Fusion, or if this is just an Inventor file that you're working with. (i can't tell based on the attachment)

The CAM Forum is camforum.autodesk.com

The Inventor Forum is http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-general-discussion/bd-p/78

The Fusion Forum is http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360/ct-p/1234

If you can tell me if you're using Fusion or Inventor, I'd be glad to move this post to the right Forum, or if you want feel freel to just hit the right link above and cut and paste your question into the correct forum.

Thanks,

Let me know either way please.

Thanks,
