Assembling a square cylinder into a square hole.

I've modelled an odd shaped torus containing a square hole and need to assemble a same-sized square rod into it. I understand (I think) how to assemble a round rod into a round hole, but the square hole has me beat. None of the edges of the hole are in the same plane - see the attached screenshot. Can you help please?

I've attached a .f3d file of the torus and a cube that fits inside. It's actually the complete model I created, but with only the torus and cube "switched on". The rest of the drawing, which I hope is not visible, consists of various unsuccessful attempts to fit the cube into torus.

Hi Ben,

Sorry, I can't see how the "joint origin" helps. In the CAD program that I used to use I can assemble by 3 points, but I can't see a way to orient the torus and cylinder in Fusion.

No, the cube has to fit inside the square hole in the torus, like in the attached screenshot.

I spent ages fitting it by hand,making lots of tiny adjustments, but its not precise. I want a way to make Fusion do it exactly.

The file won't open on my system; I get the attached error window. Does the file tell how you did it?

You get the error, because you need to Upload the file first, then you'll be able to open it.

Thanks Ben, that does it nicely. Thanks also for the tip about Uploading.

In this particular instance, it wasn't possible to build the cube in place because of the other things I needed in the final model, which determined the order I did things. Had I known the difficulty I encountered in doing the alignment (trivial in my previous CAD program) then I would have done things differently.
