Any idea as to why the data panel doesn't appear?

Over the past few months, I have noticed that when starting Fusion, the data panel takes a long time to load. Today, I have waited for at least 30 minutes and it's still not visible. I used to think that it's because the program is updating however, I have my reservations about that since I will usually see a pop-up message telling me that it's being updated.

My computer is older and I do need to get a newer one. The computer software is continuously updated. The drive is optimized and it has 332 GB of 447 free space. The computer meets all minimum requirements.

I have also restarted Fusion and/or restarted the computer before which is sometimes helpful. This is very frustrating as sometimes approximately, an hour or more is wasted on simply starting the program. Any idea as to why the data panel doesn't appear? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Sincerely,

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for posting!

At this time, I am uncertain what could be causing the Data Panel to take so long to appear. To help me troubleshoot the issue, could you share your application log files with me? We have created a great article, linked here, that describes how to go about collecting these files. These files will allow me to take a deeper look at the processes that Fusion 360 is running through and allow me to narrow down my list of potential causes.

Would you also be able to share your system information file with me? To obtain the system information file:

1. Launch %windir%\system32\msinfo32.exe
2. Select Save from the File drop down menu (CTRL + S)
3. Please reply with the resulting *.NFO file attached

Could you also send along a screenshot of what you are seeing when starting up Fusion 360 and the Data Panel does not immediately appear? We have seen the Data Panel behave in different ways in the past, with different resolutions for each scenario and I want to ensure that I am giving the best possible advice for this situation!

Thanks in advance for the files and screenshot! Please let me know if you have any questions! I look forward to hearing back from you!

Cheers,

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for sending along those files!

Firstly, it looks like your graphics drivers have not been updated since June of 2015! Could you try updating your graphics drivers via the manufacturer's website and let me know if that allows the Data Panel to appear?

Secondly, in regards to being unable to locate the application log files, it looks like you had just copy/pasted the directory into a Windows Explorer window. This would pose problems because there is no system variable "<ID>". In this case, it may be easier to navigate to the directory manually. Try navigating to the following directory:

%localappdata%\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360

In that directory, there should be a folder with a unique alphanumeric ID (for instance mine is called WAPSJRUV92MF). In that folder, you should find the folder named "logs" which contains the application log files. Should updating your graphics drivers not cause the Data Panel to appear, those log files should provide me some more clues as to what the issue may be.

I hope this helps!

Cheers,
