Analysing mechanism

I have a mechanism that converts rotary motion into linear motion and I would like to analyse this mechanism by exporting to a spreadsheet selected features/dimensions of this mechanism.

For example, for every degree of rotation at A, what is the distance between B and D - and export this data to spreadsheet.

Is it possible in Fusion?

Hi @Anonymous,

There isn't a way to do this in Fusion. While you can animate the mechanism to show the motion, there isn't a way to export it to a spread sheet for analysis. The workflow is usually one where you can specify the translation of motion when the joint is specified, so something like a specific gear ratio, can be entered when the mechanism is modeled so that it animated accurately.

The alternative way to animate the mechanism is to set up a contact set, but that again does not export data as a spreadsheet.

It is a shame, because at the moment animation seems to be more about presentations than design and motion study doesn't really help much... but it is what it is and I love Fusion360 anyway!
