Hi,

I am unable to upload .STEP part files to Fusion 360. Every upload fails. Am I out of storage? I don't get any indication of what is wrong.

Hi,

Thanks for reporiting this issue.

Would you please upload the Fusion360DiagnosticLogs file? (You can get it from "Help" menu in the top-right and select "Diagnotics Log Files" item.)

Also if possible, would you please share one of STEP file that upload fail to shi.li@autodesk.com?

Appreicate a lot!

Hi,

The Fusion360DiagnosticsLogs.zip you posted in forum and the shared STEP do help a lot, I could find a bunches of STEP upload failures.

The reason was caused by a bug that some character such as "\ < > : / | * ? not allowed as part of file name to be uploaded, the issue has been identified and we will try to fix it in coming releases.

The current workaround is to rename the file name without "\ < > : / | * ?

Please have a try and let us know if you have any problem.

Thanks

Clark

Hi,

I did remove the / and " symbols from the file name, and was able to upload the file. It would have been nice if there was an error dialog that told me what was wrong. I could have easily corrected the problem without using up your time. It would be nice to have the file name parsed and an error posted if there is a problem right away.

Ideally, it would be nice to have these and more of the special characters allowed in file names for the particular platforms Fusion 360 runs on.

For now, the problem is solved.
