Align Imported Surface to Coordinate System/Attach Construction Geometry to Imported Surface

Hi!

I have a imported surface made from a 3D scan, and I'm trying to align it to the coordinate system.  I managed to create a few planes that more or less define the coordinate system I want to have, but if I use the "align" tool on these planes I made it simply moves the planes and not the imported geometry.

Picture below shows the imported surface and the planes/axis I made.

Would like to know if there's an easier way to align the surface with the coordinate system, or if there's a way I can "attach" the planes I made to the imported surface so I can use the align tool to move the surface.

Thanks in advance!

Please attach your model as it is very hard to show without it.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

I don't see why that's necessary considering it is a generic question, but the file is attached now.

This is the best alignment I can do with a mesh body.  This is using the bounding box of the mesh.  By the way your model has some serious holes in it.  Model attached.

As far as attaching the model, put the shoe on the other foot, you have the model, I do not, so you can try various techniques to accomplish your task.  I would like the same opportunity.  If you do not want to attach the model, do not and probably your question will just sit on the Forum without anyone looking at it.

Is there not any way to slave construction geometry (planes, axis, vertices) to a mesh body?

Is there not any way to slave construction geometry (planes, axis, etc.) to a mesh body? The ones I was able to create are fairly accurate, and if I could reference them instead of the the origin planes that would be beneficial.

Not as I know of.  The process you refer to will only be available after the mesh is converted.

Yes.  The construction plane(s) need to be in the same component as the mesh.  You can also add joint origins by creating a sketch on the construction plane and adding a point (or other geometry).  When you use a joint to position the mesh, every thing in the component will move with it.
