Align Imported Sketch data to Fusion 360 Cartesian Coordinates

So I have point data from a 3D Digitizing Arm that is coming from Rhino 6. In Rhino I have recorded 3 points on the face of my item to which I am creating a plane once in Fusion. The problem is that I can't seem to get the imported drawing (which is oriented top up in Rhino to import top up in Fusion. Once in Fusion I have tried the align command as well as move, but cant get the point data to conform to the same X plane as in Rhino and the physical specimen. Any help is much appreciated!

What file format does Rhino provide ?

Are the data points all on the same plane (2d), or maybe 3d data?

Which way is the file opened / imported?

the file is exported from Rhino as a dxf. I would assume its 3D data because all but the 3 control points are at random heights. Im using 3 points from a common face on the part to pass through Rhino and use as 3 points in fusion to generate a plane, then project the rest of the point data to that plane as a starting point for modeling a new part but being able to utilize the accurate feature data from the original. The file is saved out of Rhine as a dxf then uploaded and opened in fusion 360. Checking against the physical model all the dimensional data is coming in accurately , just not oriented the way i would like.

You should be able to orient the dxf sketch with a joint at this point.  The dxf sketch should be in its own component.

Here's one way of doing it:

The joint icons will indicate how the two sides of joint will align.  In the screencast, I didn't try to orient the dxf to the base components plane.  Experiment a little to find the technique that works for you.

p.s. It would actually work better if the base component was a 3d model instead of just a sketch.  I would use the three control points to create the base component.

Hmm seems like a good route, just tried it but need to figure out why I can't insert the dxf I'd like to use (ghosted in the selection dialog box)

Is the file in use by another program?  I haven't had any problem importing a dxf multiple times into the same Fusion 360 file.  Are you creating a new component for the dxf?
