Align holes 230121

Hello Fusion 360 forum,

Working to recreate some shapes that have been
modeled in another CAD software

This is a drawing of the intended result.

This question is asking about a fairly
simple aspect of modeling this shape.

Two holes 6 mm in diameter are required
6 mm from the edge of the Base Plate
on the centerline of the Base Plate.

A Component is begun and named.
The Base Plate is sketched with the
withe Base Plate and the PIR hole on
the centerline of the sketch
origin point. The Sketch is finished
and the Base Plate is extruded.

A sketch is created on the plane of
the face of the Base Plate and
two 6 mm circles are drawn on the sketch.

The question is: How to align the
circles 6 mm from the edge of the
Base Plate?

The only adjustment tools that seem to
be available in Sketch are
the Constraints and Move/Copy.

In Edit Sketch the line tool is
selected and a construction line
is drawn from the midpoint of the
left edge to the midpoint of the right edge.

The coincident Constraint tool
is selected and the edge of one of the
circles is hovered until it changes color.
Then the edge of the base plate is
hovered until it reacts and the the
Base Plate edge is clicked .

This moves the circle to the Base Plate
edge. Escape is clicked to get out of the
Constraint tool. Then in Modify,
Move/Copy is selected and the middle
of the circle is selected but the
circle will not move because it
is constrained to the edge of the Base Plate.

So moving the circle to the edge
of the Base Plate is attempted
without the Constraint just using
Move/Copy but it is impossible to
know for sure that the center
of the circle is on the edge
of the Base Plate so the circle can
then be moved parametrically 6mm
from the edge of the Base Plate.

The question is: How to align the
circles 6 mm from the edge of the
Base Plate?

Thanks.

Type "D" for Dimension, and dimension it to the edge:

Hi,

1. delete the existing  symmetry lines

2. project "base plate" into sketch 2

3. create horizontal constraint between midpoint and circle center

4. dimension circle center

Hello @g-andresen and the F360 forum,

Your excellent reply is most appreciated. The
video is the essence of illumination.
It looks like
- the sketch construction lines were eliminated
- Create >Project/include >Project
- at the Project dialogue box the Selection Filter Bodies
was selected and the button OK clicked.
- the center of the small circle was hovered over

and when the center reacts the Control button was held
down and the center clicked
- the midpoint of the center of the Base Plate
edge was clicked

- the Dimension tool was clicked and the
dimension set at 9 mm: The dim to
to circle edge plus the radius of the
circle.
I think this is the proper sequence.
I have played and repplayed  the excellent
several times and because you are so
dexterous and swift with the process
combined with the resolution of my
laptop it is a bit difficult to get every
mouse click in the proper order.
Would it be possible for the video
to downloaded to Dropbox at

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y980a9sruzj5cur/AACwzJy3jIZo5VHPH1bhVytwa?dl=0
so it can be studied with tools that are not
available in the forum format?
Thanks.
