Adjust size of cut after it's been applied?

Sorry in advance if the answer to this is obvious or if I missed the answer somewhere in the forums.

I'm using Fusion to design parts that I'm 3D printing and it's pretty common for me to revise a design after trying the printed part. After I cut one object out of another, is it possible to change the dimensions of the object that was cut out? For example, suppose I created a box and then created a hole through it by creating a cylinder on one of the box's faces using the "cut" operation. When I do that, it appears that the box's mesh is modified and there's not a separate cylinder object for me to resize.

If this isn't possible, is there another way to cut objects from others that would allow me to modify them after the fact?

Thanks,

Brandon

Hi,

please do it this way:

1. create a sketch on the surface > position & dimension a circle > EXIT SKETCH
2. extrusion/cutting with the profile from the sketch
3. alternatively use the command "get
In this way, you can change the position and diameter in the sketch and the depth under Extrude/Cut at any time.

1. Hopefully you didn't use the Create>[box, cylinder, sphere, torus] tools. Those primitives are utter crap for anything parametric. The Create>[coil, pipe] ones are sometimes useful, but the first four definitely are not. They're nothing but trouble.

2. To make a box shape, create a sketch, draw a rectangle in it, dimensions that rectangle, close the sketch, and Create>Extrude the Profile (area) of that rectangle, with the option New Body selected.

3. To cut a circular hole through the box, create a sketch, draw a circle in it, dimension that circle, close the sketch, and Create>Extrude the Profile (area) of that circle right through the box, with the option Cut selected.

4. Actually, you can put the rectangle AND the circle into one sketch together, dimensioning them relative to each other as desired, close the sketch, and Create>Extrude ONLY the Profile (area) of the rectangle minus the circle.

5. Then, at any time, you can Edit Sketch and change any of your dimensions there, and you can Edit the Extrude feature in the timeline and change the distance value there.
