Additional vertical edges when extruding projected outlines

I uploaded an electronics project created in KiCad as a STEP file to build a case around it. I added the SETP model and projected the outline of the board on a new sketch. After a few offsets, I extruded this outline, but I see that there are places along the vertical edge where the extrusion has a double edge (as seen in the attached image). Any idea why this is happening?

The Fusion Archive file is also attached here. Screenshot 2025-02-08 at 14.12.45.png

Hi,

The reason for this lies in the imported assembly.

If you switch to shaded, however, it is not visible

Hi,

However, you can remove the surfaces in the imported part.
I have done it here with Edit in Place.

If you have a personal license, you need to perform the actions in the imported part and then update the current design.

Thank you! That fixed it. I need to figure out why KiCad exports this board in this way.

A mistake was probably made when creating the sketch.
This can happen, for example, if the fillets in the sketch were not created correctly (with tangential transitions).
You can avoid such errors by first extruding the rectangular body and then applying the fillet to the solid.

It seems this is a KiCad bug. I posted this issue on the KiCad forum and was asked to submit a bug report.

Hi,

This is not a bug but the result of a badly done basic sketch.

The basic sketch you mention is a projection of the PCB edge. The PCB was exported from KiCad. It is carried over as a result of the extra edges in the PCB. It’s not a bug in Fusion. It’s a bug in KiCad.

Hi,

This should be checked there.
However, I think that it is simply an “unfavorable” creation because only one side of the fillet is affected.
