Adding second sheet to drawing. Why do I have to re-choose the component?

Hi,

I want to add a second sheet for a component.  I want (obviously) to keep dimensioning the same component.  Is there an easier way to do this?  From what I've experienced so far, I have to re-choose the component via the big component tree because the second sheet automatically chooses a Base View as the entire assembly.

Prefer not to do this.

You are correct, you cannot copy a component between two drawing sheets.  You will use the process you have already figured out.

Hi @engineer1984

You can place the same view on a second sheet, by choosing the same reference.

Each time you place a new base view, the reference to it, is added to your drawing browser. This same information is available in the drawing creation dialogue (see above).

To place the same view (with component visibility, as per the first sheet), simple choose the reference from the drop down, set the orientation, and you should be good to go!

I hope this helps. PS, we have a new "Duplicate Sheet" feature which we are shipping later in the year, this will make your workflow even easier. Check out the public roadmap here.

By the way, I'd love to understand how you are using 2D drawings in Fusion. If you're up for it, here is a link to my calendar, please book a 30-minute Zoom session with me. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about our drawings package, and I can even show you some of the new tools that are coming soon (note times are in 24:00 format so 03:00 is 3am, 15:00 is 3pm).
