3Dconnexion - Issues and Updates (OS X)

The latest version of 3DxWare (10.2.2) is now working seamlessly with the latest App Store version of Fusion. However, the download version of Fusion is very unstable and freezes-then-crashes almost instantly when using the (3Dconnexion) mouse to move around the scene. There hasn't been a single freeze / crash with the App Store version of Fusion using the same mouse and the latest 3DxWare. This behavior is consistent between different Apple machines using the same versions of 3DxWare, Fusion, and mice. Specs for my primary workstation are below.

iMac 27-inch, Late 2013, OS X Yosemite 10.10.4

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GTX 775M 2 GB

3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator, 3DxWare 10.2.2

I'm investigating this currently. Thanks for posting. You are crashing into a big bucket, but there are hardly any Fusion users in it aside from you. So this makes me wonder about your data and what you are actually doing inside Fusion when you are crashing. Can you please describe the workflow(s) that you think will guarantee a crash like the ones you have been getting? This will help greatly for testing. Thanks!

Looking at your crash reports, most of them show Mac Appstore version. Can you confirm?

Also, is your monitor retina?

Thanks again!

Standard display. After posting, I did experience a few related crashes using the App Store version. However, everything was stable until I fired up YouTube. Both versions of Fusion (download and app store) freeze up and crash if there is a YouTube video playing while using the 3Dconnexion mouse. The crash also causes the browser to freeze up, and Safari throws a dialog about web content quitting unexpectedly. No video, no crashes. I haven't tried this with other browsers / video sites.

Thanks for the additional details, they help.

I'm still trying to reproduce the crash and development is looking at the reports. In the meantime, if you think of any other factors please let us know. For me youtube + 3d connexion is not enough to crash Fusion, but does reveal some issues worth investigating. So your report is helpful already!
