I'm wondering if there is a way to change the location of my model in relationship to the virtual "tree" that is the 3D wood material? I know how to edit the material and change the ring thickness and other features, but what I'd like to do is move the center of the ring growth (i.e. the pith of the tree/branch) outside of my model to get a more realistic rendering. As a woodworker, rarely would I make an object that included the center of the tree/branch due to wood movement issue. Most lumber doesn't include that part if the tree either.
The 3D wood material is incredibly realistic with this one exception. It would be amazing to control how my model was oriented inside the wood material. With this control woodworkers could actually render quarter-sawn vs. flat-sawn lumber. If this is not a current feature, is there any chance it could be added to aid wood-product designers in making realistic renderings.
Thanks!
