3D To CNC

First off, I am a complete newbie, so apologizes if this has already be discussed, or even worse, so easy a caveman can do it yet I can't.

I've designed a workbench that I hope to cut out using a CNC when I get one. It has 18 pieces, and all will be made from 3/4" plywood. How do I get it from a 3d model so that all pieces are flat for future CNCing? Hope that makes sense.  If not I'll try to explain it better.

Thanks all,

There are a few utility Addins that will do that.  Nester from Github would be the logical one.

Without a CNC machine to know what output you need, various methods we could advise may not work.

Might help....

Well there's a start, I now know what it's called.  I'll check out this Nester.  I learn best by playing with it, which is exactly why I'm looking now.

I'm leaning towards Avid CNC for the hardware, will probably use whatever software they suggest to operate it.

Use Fusion for the software, (Manufacture) just need the Post Processor files to make the hardware compatible.

Nester is giving me an error "faces are from the same component. each part must be a component".

I built this using bodies. Was that a mistake? Components are better? Suggestions?

Yes, components are the desired outcome.  one body in one component. sometimes you start by making the component first , and working exclusively inside them, and sometimes you work with bodies, and convert them to components at the end.  depends on the workflow of the particular design.  I don't suggest making a body, converting to a component, and then making more changes.  that just makes a mess.
