3d Texturing in F360

I'm looking to add some, "wood chipped" textures into F360. I found this video from Vcarve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTlRXNFma30 Is there a way to get these type of textures in F360? If not, would I be able to transfer my design from F360 to Vcarve, use Vcarve texture, and transfer back to F360 for CAM? Thanks in advance for the answers.

Hi,

1. V carve doesn´t generate 3d data.

2. V-Carve is a CAM tool which can create toolpaths and output them via a variety of postprocessors.

So does F360 have these kind of toolpaths in CAM? If no: Would it be easier to do the complete CAM process in Vcarve? Or should I do the majority of the CAM work in F360 then do the finishing texturing using Vcarve?

Hi,

Before the CAM work, the modeling of the texture is carried out in Fusion.
The big task in Fusion is modeling and not creating toolpaths.
I have done several wave reliefs with V-Carve. In V-Carve the process is completely different.
You follow the given basic elements and vary them.
In V-Carve you can use standing wave, an ingenious plugin by Paul Rowntree.

The problem with F360 is that, I don't believe, there is a method to use for 3d modeling textures. It would be a very tedious process of manipulating a 3d model. So I would like to use the texturing options in Vcarve, but use F360 for the modeling of my design. I'm also not familiar with Vcarve, only F360. In the video I sent in the first post it goes over what kind of texture I would like for my project.

So would it make sense to first run Vcarve to get the texture on my stock, then use F360 to model the shape I want (while leaving the un-cut textured layer in tact), or cut my model using F360 and then using Vcarve to apply the texture afterwards? Am I even able to use both programs to do this?

Hi,

my workflow would be first create the model in fusion and then apply the toolpaths of the texture created in V-Carve. Much depends on whether the textured surface is flat or curved.
My tip: Ask the question in the V-Carve forum as well.
