As a personal license user, can anyone recommend how to manage custom title blocks in 2D drawings now that templates have been withdrawn?

All I want is a simpler title block, without the commercial stuff like dept. or approved by etc, but to add a material specification and boiler plate tolerance info etc.

Do I really have to manually edit the title block in every single document or is this possible to do in a script or similar for each document?

Hi,

Via File >New Template, you can select an existing template as a base and edit it.
This also includes the creation of individual attributes. However, these are not automatically filled in when a new drawing is created from the design. Finally, this "personal" template must be saved in a folder of your account.

Hi günther, thank you for your idea.

I do not see File >New Template but I do have File >New Drawing Template which is disabled with the personal license, so I am unable to create new templates. When creating a new drawing I cannot select any of my existing templates, the only option is From Scratch.

In the past I was able to manually enter attribute values into a customised title block, but now it seams that to achieve this I need to also edit the title block for each and every version of every part I make, which is tedious to say the least.

I use manual machining so having good drawings is important to me.

Hi,

I am not aware that Custom Drawing Templates are no longer available with the Personal License.
Maybe an AD employee can say something about this. > @jeff_strater ; @Phil.E ; @jodom4
Otherwise I would do a CLEAN UNINSTALL and install new.

PLEASE DO NOT UNINSTALL.

Custom templates are not part of free user entitlement.

The little blue icons have explanation pop ups, when you click them it explains.

No you don't have to create title block each time for your project even if you don't have an option(personal licence) to create drawing templates.

Follow these steps.

1.  create your title block with all the necessary details that you'll be repeating using fusion or AutoCAD

2. Export it as DWG

3. In fusion drawing workspace select the title block when in turns into blue just right click and select new title block

4. In the pop up window you'll find insert DWG just click on that and locate the DWG in your local computer.

5. If you want additional details to be entered just right click on title block after selecting it, then click on edit title block.

you can add text and attributes here, watch the video attached to get clear understanding

You may be able to create a custom template but if you are using a Fusion 360 personal license you will not be able to select it when creating a new model drawing.

You cannot create a template nor use one. See images posted above.

Thank you everyone for trying to help.

The blog post by Keqing Song indicated that 2D drawing would be restricted to single page direct to printer output, but did not mention the withdrawal of the template functionality.

The capability has just reverted back to where it was some years ago, which is a shame because the default was always a bit of a disappointment and I had invested time in learning to use the enhancements when they became available.

I am a personal user and I really appreciate Autodesk offering a free version. Like most hobbyists, I have a printer limited to 8-1/2 x 11 so I must use sheet size "A" for drawings. Unfortunately, the default title block provided by Fusion 360 personal takes up over 25% of the entire sheet. Therefore, any drawing with multiple views must be a very small scale. I understand the need for limitations of the free version, but I think it would be helpful to provide a title block option that better fits the sheet used by most hobbyists.

Can you configure your print drivers to print "to fit"? Similar to when you print a photo that is too big for letter size paper and have to use the option to fit it all on the page.
