The overall application is great, I get that and that's why I'm committed to learning this application, howver there are basic tasks that are intuitive and easily accomplished in other programs that are a regular mystery in Fusion.  For instance, I've made a sketch and I'd like to move it .5" on a z axis but all I get is BS.  There's no clue offered as to why the move tool will not move what it's attached too.  Why would the move tool display and then not move anything.  That makes one rather friggin annoyed.   Here's a vid.

@smallfavor,

Sorry, but I did not see a video attached.  But, if what you are trying to do is to move an entire sketch along its own Z axis, there are ways to do that.  Right now, the Move tool will not allow a sketch (the entire sketch as one selection) object to be moved.  There are good reasons for this, but I won't go into those now.  If you're interested, I can do that.  Instead, you have to move the sketch lines/arc/points.  So, to get what you want, the best way is to just move the sketch geometry itself.  Edit the sketch, select the geometry, use Move, and translate along the Z axis.  Here is a screencast:

That's exactly what I think I'm doing.

Your sketch geometry is fixed to the origin, that's why it won't move.  I'll create a screencast to show the problem in a minute.

Okay, now I see there was a constraint added by another sketch on a construction plane generated at the edge of the initial sketch.  I think there should be an error notice that explains why a tool is not working rather than leaving it to be discovered by the user.

Here is a screencast showing how to break the coincident constraint to the origin, so things can move:

Thanks Jeff,

I think our posts are crossing over each other.   I may have missed it, but can a sketch only be moved in the sketch mode or is it like an object that can be moved in the model space?

You cannot move an entire sketch at one (that is, selecting the sketch in the browser), but you do not have to be in sketch mode to move sketch geometry.  You just have to make sure that sketch geometry is selected for the object type:
