Hello everyone.

I am happy to announce that Autodesk published my add-in.

The main function of the add-in is to enable the user to quickly insert structural member by selecting single line or curve. The structural member is selected from a library containing almost all common structural shapes in three different standards.

The inserted structural members are referenced to the geometry used to be inserted so any changes to that geometry will reflect to the member. This will allow the user to make changes and even drive the whole structure parametrically.

Here is a link to a demostrational video https://youtu.be/57xZm7FKAOU.

If you would like to read more about the add-in here is a link to the Add-in home page in Autodesk app store https://apps.autodesk.com/FUSION/en/Detail/Index?id=594411831696180885&appLang=en&os=Win64

That is my first add-in and also my first release. I plan to add more functionalities to it in the future. I would be happy to hear what you think about the add-in.

Hello, I found your topic after many research about a equivalence to FrameGenerator modulus which is available on Inventor Professionnal. The lack of this tools is a big handicap on Fusion360 and you've maybe solve a major issues with this Program. I want to thank you for the job you've done. I tried to do that by myself but my competence in Python are very limited and I was totally disappointed about the results. I'm ready to paied this AddIn, but I've to know if your AddIn is compatible to ISO standards ? I'm a young french who just found his company but I've to design my products according to the standards of my country and It isn't obvious in your AddIn presentation. A big thank to you for this job and sorry for my bad English, since Covid lockdown, i'm a lil' bit rusty in. Have a nice day.

Thank you sir!!! I jumped out of my chair when I found this app I was so excited!

I published a 5 star review to the store and have been sharing this to people I know.

Some comments:

  • The interface for some commands could be improved, in the notch command for example one has to guess which member to select first.
  • Export cut list is great BUT one annoyance is that the length cell has "L=xxx" inside of it. I'll have to edit those cells to remove the "L=" so that I can perform sums in preparing order lists and use filters to manage my BOM.
  • The item number should be included in the cut list, other wise it is going to be hard to track revisions on an evolving design when working with drawings.
  • It would be nice to select multiple lines at once, such as doing legs on a frame where they are all the same size.
  • I work in T-slot framing in both metric and imperial. Adding these members would be really handy.
  • This would work well for woodworkers also by adding in 2x4's etc.

This is something I've been waiting for since doing my first professioanl project in Fusion 2 years ago. Working with structural members is something I need to do frequently and this app is simply an amazing addition!

Oh also at some point I'll have to figure out a workflow for doing bolted connections, base plates and gussets etc. That should be easy to do as separate sketches and bodies though. I think that will all be easy to do.

A true cope feature could be a useful add in for later, I usually do simple copes like this rather than tight copes that perfectly follow all the radiuses:
