spyder wont open after todays update

windows 7 pro 

64 bit

selecting a user python script in the "scripts and addons" menu, 

then hitting the edit button used to load the script in spider.

currently the scripts and addons menu disappears and nothing else happens.

is there a command i can enter to trigger spyder?

corrupt update was to blame.

uninstall reinstall solved this.
