Fusion is partially freezing

Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is the wrong category/board. couldn't find a better one.

Fusion 360 starts freezing after about 10 seconds. Some buttons still respond but most dont. I can still pan around the canvas normally and I can click on save but then cant type anything. Most other buttons dont respond at all.

This is with a new empty file. Tryed a clean reinstall but that didn't help. My system has:

i7 5820k

16GB ram

GTX770 (2GB)

NVME ssd

running Windows 10

All drivers are updated. Hope some can help me!

thanks,

Tenzin

Hello,

I would like to get more information to diagnose the issue. Did Fusion never run well in your system since you installed at the first time or it didn't work well suddenly and but it worked well before?

You said a clean reinstall didn't help. Did you clean some local cache data before reinstalling? The following wiki just shows how to do a clean reinstall.

Thanks,

Marshal

Hello Marshal,

thanks for the reply.

This is the first time i installed Fusion on this PC and it was always like this. To be sure i did another reinstall making sure i didn't miss any of the folders to delete. But still no improvement.

The funny thing is that i can still create a block by clicking on the icon but the drop down menus dont respond. So the program works just the interface doesn't.

hope you can help!

Hello,

It was weried behaviour. I am not sure if it was related to Graphics driver or not? Please update your display card drivers to the lastest and see if the issue can be solved.

If not, please follow the steps as below and see if it makes any difference?

1. Launch Fusion 360.

2. Go to right-top corner -> your account -> Preferences -> General -> Graphics driver.

    The default value should be "Auto-select". Please change it to "DirectX 9".

In case you cannot invoke "Preferences" dialog because of the issue. Please open "Windows Explorer" and go to folder "%appdata%\Autodesk\Neutron Platform\Options\" and open the file "NMachineSpecificOptions.xml". Please add red line to your option file if it doesn't exist. Or please change value to "VirtualDeviceDx9" if it exists.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16" standalone="no" ?>

<OptionGroups>

  <BootstrapOptionsGroup SchemaVersion="2" ToolTip="Special preferences that require the application to be restarted after a change." UserName="Bootstrap">

    <driverOptionId ToolTip="The driver used to display the graphics" UserName="Graphics driver" Value="VirtualDeviceDx9"/>

  </BootstrapOptionsGroup>

</OptionGroups>

Thanks,

Marshal

thanks for the reply but sadly it didn't change anything.

The latest drivers are installed. I have also completely removed the drivers and switched to an AMD R9 290 card but still the same. then switched back to the GTX770 and still the same.

I have absolutely no idea what might cause this.

Thanks,

Tenzin
