Unable to split body

I am unable to split this body by any means I can think of. I have tried using a plane, line, faces on other bodies, a patch. All yield "No intersection between target and tool." This is a problem that I regularly run into, and am tired of trying to find workarounds. When working on this model, the body was split with no problem in other places.

Thank you for any suggestions.

You wont' be able to split the body very cleanly because its patched surfaces. There are various methods to convert them to a solid body:

Ryan, I appreciate your help.

I am able to split this body, it has been split several times in the past. I am even able to split it now. I am simply not able to split it along the plane where I want to. I am able to split it in some spots, but not others. I'm not able to see a reason why it works where it does.

Thank you

That is totally different than your first post "I am unable to split this body by any means I can think of. I have tried using a plane, line, faces on other bodies, a patch."

The only part i can't split is the rear sight. I should have said - Split "cleanly" in my previous post and will edit it as such.

If you split back or split that section off you should be able to split it on your angled plane.

Check here on the Rear Sight:

Thank you for helping with this. You're right, what I originally posted was a bit confusing. I was a bit frustrated, and didn't word things as well as I could have. Cutting off the rear sight did allow me to do what I wanted to do originally.

No worries! it happens to the best of us. It really just looked like that missing surface was the culprit and i think if you patch it up it will work better.
