Selection Set Visibility Within the Animation Tab

Just wondering why when creating an animation that I cannot utilize the selection sets I've created within the animation to toggle visibility on or off.  I have no issues doing this within the modelling space but when I select a selection set within an animation and then try to toggle its visibility, I get a message telling me there are no objects available for toggling.  Surely the ability to toggle selection sets on/off is crucial to producing animations with lots of layered parts and ought to be supported.  Having to select each component individually every time I want to toggle visibility is not an option when working with large assemblies like I am.  Is this a bug or is this just how the the software is currently designed to work?

I'm also wondering if anything is being done to resolve the issue where components in the browser get renamed as, for example, 'Selection Set 1', when they are put into a selection set in the animation workspace.

Hi @mda

This is interesting - I think this might be something to bring up with development. Here's what I see when I select the bodies manually (show/hide is visible):

And here's what I see when I select the same bodies using the selection set (no show/hide):

Is this the same thing you're talking about? I don't see any warning - can you show me a screenshot of what you're seeing? Maybe I'm missing a step.

As for this part:

I found an internal ticket for this (FUS-39304). I'll add your thread to the ticket.

Cheers,

Here is the screen capture you requested.  In this capture you can see the message, "No objects available for toggling", I get when I've activated a selection set and then clicked on the visibility toggle tool from the 'transform' menu.  I want to be able to record these actions to the storyboard to create an animation where components pop into view and then back out to show the various layers of components in large assemblies.  But without being able to utilize the selection sets I've made to do this, I end up having to scroll through my browser and identify these parts and select them individually.  I'm working with assemblies containing over 1000 components here.  It basically makes using Fusion impossible to produce the animations I wantVisibility Toggle.jpg

Do you think you could share that file with me? I'd like to make a screencast recreating the same behavior that you're seeing so the issue will be clear when I log it.

Thanks!!

I have logged this internally as FUS-49458 so the development team can have a look.

Thanks for sharing your model with us and helping us improve Fusion!

Cheers,
