Lifetime Simulation

Hi all,

I'm working on a mobile robot project, and I've designed some mounting brackets for the drive wheels. The bracket has to be able to take 50kg load. I'm trying to get some help on how to run a lifetime simulation of how long the bracket will last until it breaks. It tried the event simulation, but it's not giving me the results I'm looking for, so maybe I'm not setting the parameters correctly.

Thanks in advance.

Before even considering simulation - the part does not appear to be modeled correctly to me.

How will you manufacture the part?

Can you File>Export and then Attach the *.f3d file here?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

The part will be manufactured out of steel but the manufacturing method has not be determined yet. It's part of the drive wheel's suspension system. I've attached the file as requested.

Thanks

Sheet metal is uniform thickness - your part is not uniform thickness.

I recommend that you turn on Capture History and use the Sheet Metal tools.

Also, will those gussets be welded to the bent sheet metal part, or will they be pressed formed in the sheet metal (a completely different design than what you have)?

The gussets will be welded to the bent sheet metal part.

In your re-design you should make the sheet uniform thickness at the bend.

Outside radius = inside radius + thickness of material.

You have made them both 3mm.  This results in non-uniform thickness.

OK, will do. cheers for the replies. I'll get on that and then get back to the simulation question later.. Again, thanks.

Hi @Anonymous

It sounds like you want to calculate the fatigue life. Fusion does not perform any fatigue calculations.

Your options are to do the fatigue life calculations manually (using the stress results you obtain from Fusion), or use a product such as Nastran In-CAD or Inventor Nastran to do a multi-axial fatigue analysis.
