Encountering an error with the "non uniform scale" function which creates a graphics error (?!?). I know the two are not connected but here's what is happening to me: AFTER using the non uniform scale tool (on an Insert Mesh STL object) the object displays inverted reflections (what is light is now dark and vice versa).
The inverted reflections only show up AFTER hitting the OK button in the scale window. During the preview phase which shows the new dimensions, the graphics are still OK. AFTER hitting OK in the scale tool window, the graphics error shows up.
When using the "uniform scale" function on the same STL object, that graphics are OK.
I've already emptied cache and Graphics Diagnostics. I've also tried to "redo" the scale conversion in RENDER mode but the result is the same. I've quit and restarted. I've deleted the STL file and imported it again. I created a new STL but the result is always the same.
Am I missing something?

Hi John,
thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, the STL file contains proprietary info that is covered with a licensing agreement so I can't upload it on a forum.
Thanks.

Does the mesh show any warnings in the browser before or after the scale?
Does Reverse Normals make any difference.

I seem to have different functions in the MODIFY menu. Is this because we have a different version of Fusion 360 or are the functions dependent on the attributes of the .STL file?
Thanks.

You are in the Solid Menu Modify, switch over the Mesh Menu Modify.

Never mind, I think I found the functions you were referring to.
I'll try it.
Thanks.

I repaired the mesh so there's no warning sign next to the object but the graphics error (inverted reflections) still shows up after non uniform scaling.
As you can't share the model can you at least show some screencaptures of before and after scaling. Don't attach pictures, either paste from the clipboard or use Insert Photos from the editor toolbar.
Did you try the reverse normals command after repairing the mesh? I've experimented on a mesh I have but not seeing any change after a non uniform scale.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm not sure what the issue is.
I have some .stl files that have a warning on them (not closed, negative volume etc.) and the non-uniform scale tool works just fine and on some of them the graphics error shows up.
I tried the repair function but it didn't make a difference.
Perhaps the faulty mesh in the file has something to do with it, or maybe some files are better than others...
Thanks for trying.
