Hi,
Thanks for reporting. I see your crash reports, but I'm having trouble reproducing it and might need a little help here.
When you say "don't select a file" do you mean a folder location or a parent in the assembly? In either case, Fusion will not let me use OK until both of these fields are filled. Can you describe this a little more please so I can understand what's happening, and most important how to get into the state you describe.
Thanks,

2 things: First, when I wrote this bug report I thought the feature did something that it does not do (I thought it was how you *import* an external component to a project). So I misunderstood what the dialog is for and thus the language I used in the report is confusing/inaccurate.
Second, I am starting to think this is file-specific. I can't reproduce it with a different file than the project I've been working on. And with this specific file, I cannot get this feature to NOT crash the program no matter what I choose for the the parent, or the folder location.
Let me know how you want to proceed.
So if I understand fully, you have a particular design that crashes when you attempt to create an external sub component.
It sounds like it might repeat in debugging. Can you share the design so I can test it? (file > share public link) or send me a PM with the link.

Thanks. The crash is repeatable using your model. I'm sending it along with a report about the crash.
