UPDATED 7/14/2021
Browser access to Fusion 360 is available on Chromebooks or any device to eligible members of the Education Community.
We are pleased to introduce the Preview for Fusion 360 in a browser. From now on, you’ll have unprecedented flexibility in your design process – offline, mobile and online (from your desktop or now from your browser). That’s right, you can now create and edit your designs without having Fusion 360 downloaded onto the computer you have at hand.
Create and edit your Fusion 360 designs anywhere.
We are committed to providing the best solution that matches the way YOU want to work, with no limitations. As a Fusion 360 user, when you’re away from your desktop or laptop – using a colleague’s machine or in a library, or using a Chromebook or Linux computer – you can now access Fusion 360’s core sketching, part modeling, and data management tools directly from a browser.
Supported workflows.
We built Fusion 360 on the simple concept of a complete product development platform – with your data at the center. This data must extend across multiple editing and viewing environments, user access methods, and process tools.
The ability to author and edit your designs in a browser is just another way to give you unprecedented choice and flexibility. As we collect feedback and evaluate the best possible workflows, we will continue to expand this environment's capabilities in order to empower your work.
Based on frequency of use, we decided to start with sketching and modeling capabilities. This means your Fusion 360 designs will load in the browser and display all features in the timeline, but only core sketching and part modeling capabilities are currently available for editing and creation.
This is just the beginning. We’ll keep increasing support for other capabilities throughout the year, based on your valuable feedback.
How to get started?
First things first, you'll need to already be an active user of Fusion 360 and have previously installed the desktop client. If you haven't, please download HERE. Then, to create or edit a Fusion 360 design in a browser:
- Search for www.autodesk.com/fusion360
- Select “Sign In”
- Select “Fusion Team”
- Browse through projects to locate a Fusion 360 design
- Select “Edit in Browser” or New>Fusion Design
Watch these tutorials to learn how to create new and edit existing Fusion 360 designs in a web browser.
1) Start a Fusion 360 design in a browser
2) Edit existing Fusion 360 design in a browser
What is Fusion Team?
Fusion Team comes free with your Fusion 360 entitlement, and is the browser view of all of the data you create with Fusion 360. This service allows you to interact directly with models and drawings in a browser. Fusion Team also enables you to collaborate with your product development team from anywhere, and access your designs from any device.
Some key aspects to consider when using Fusion 360 on a browser:
Operating systems:
You can access Fusion 360 in a browser on all platforms: Windows, MacOS, Linux and Chromebooks are all supported.
There is currently no support for mobile, nor for touch workflows such as on an iPad or a Surface Pro. We will be working on these aspects, since we understand the value of being able to edit your data from your mobile device.
Please note that there is a current mobile solution for viewing, commenting, measuring and collaborating on Fusion 360 models using the Fusion 360 mobile app (iTunes or Google Play).
Recommended browsers:
The experience has been optimized for the latest Google Chrome, which has the best support so far. We do not currently recommend usage on other browsers.
What are the technical requirements?
- WebGL needs to be enabled in your browser. If you are having issues with WebGL, please try this link for troubleshooting: https://get.webgl.org/ and enabling WebGL
- Using a mouse is recommended more than trackpads.
- We don’t have specific memory requirements for RAM or your graphics card.
- 10 Mbps internet speed should be enough, based on our tests.
Coverage and performance:
Fusion 360 in a browser should not have latency issues, regardless the country you are working from. Please let us know if you are experiencing slow performance by posting your issues in a new thread on the Preview Forum.
Compatibility:
Sketching and modeling capabilities were our focus for this launch of Fusion 360 in a browser, based on frequency of use. We are continuing to expand on these capabilities, but today you will find the following:
- Features that are not yet supported in the browser will display, but won’t be editable.
- Meshes are not currently displaying in the browser.
- Direct edit models will not open.
Leave us your feedback:
We’re eager to hear from you about your experience. As you explore the Preview of Fusion 360 in a browser, you can leave us any feedback and suggestions here on the Preview Forum. Start a new thread and be sure to include "Browser" at the beginning of your title. This thread has been locked and will be updated with more info as it comes along. Thanks for your interest!
