G-code to geometry, is backwards possible?

Hello all,

  Just getting started on Fusion 360 and one of the first questions on my mind is: Is it possible to take a proven g code program and work backwards to a drawing? Even to extract toolpaths and generate geometry. Your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Not in Fusion. Your best bet is a backplotter with simulation capabilities (like Cimco Editor).

If you have access to Solidworks, You can download the wonderful and great version of HSM works 2.5 D for free. It includes the Cimco editor for free, but is totally worth paying for the full version. And that can allow you to turn toolpaths(from an existing .nc,.ncf or .txt to a .dxf  . As a bonus for you can set that Cimco to be your default editor for fusion, and it rocks.  It has really helped me migrate more of my workflow from Solidworks and Gibbs to Fusion 360. Downside is you have to have access  to solidworks and open HSM every two weeks for it to work. If It is a one time file? send me a message and Ill see if I can whip it out for you. There's a free editor NC-Corrector that has the option to export as DXF.

@HughesTooling -
That NC corrector looks cool! How did you find that?

@matthew.nichols I found it in CNCZone a few years ago.

It's pretty good, it even does 4 axis wire backplots.
