Dragging timeline objects into & out of timeline groups

Dragging timeline objects into & out of timeline groups

Currently, moving timeline objects in and out of timeline groups is not possible, and requires deleting the group first and then creating a new group and possibly renaming it. Too convoluted for a task that should be a simple case of drag-and-drop.

Should be fairly self-explanatory but I'm including a screencast anyway. Sorry if I speak too slowly---English is not my first language!

This had previously been suggested on IdeaStation about 3 years ago, but the idea was archived due to lack of votes, since I've only used Fusion 360 for about 3 months, I didn't get to upvote that one, so I'm resurrecting it here.

I'd also like to propose groups within groups in the timeline. I realise this may not be considered "essential" but I"ve encountered situations where sub-groups would have made a lot of sense.

Great idea! Current interface is v.0.1. Needs to grow up!

Yes. It's frustrating to have to delete a timeline group (without deleting it's contents, of course), then re-create the group, just to get another item into the group.

And to be fair, I would like groups with groups, but that's gonna be hard on a horizontal timeline.

Oops, my last post meant to read "And to be fair, I would like groups within groups".

Things like this shouldn't need votes because its such basic functionality. Why wouldn't this be added in when the group functionality was implemented?

As well as being able to drag a feature into a group when dragging on the timeline it should step into and out of the group so that the next feature that you create would be created in the group or out of it.

Anyway please upvote so we can see this functionality.

Definitely could use this functionality, having to constantly delete and recreate groups is a big pain on larger more complex models.

I am in favour of adding this feature. The current group feature is convenient for cleaning up the timeline, but editing or removing a group is not intuitive. Being able to drag and drop features to an existing group would be much more convenient than the current workflow of deleting, recreating, (and in some cases, renaming) the group each time. Further, an 'Ungroup' command would make more sense than using Delete and choosing an option in the Group Delete pop-up window.

(It shouldn't require a web search, which is how I ended up here)
