Definitely one of my favorite features of Fusion 360 is the timeline. What I'm not sure I like so much is the way the description text of timeline objects can only be viewed on mouse hover, in a tooltip.
If I'm not mistaken, Inventor has a vertical feature history akin to Fusion 360's timeline. When laid out vertically, description text can be displayed to the right of timeline items. Once you get into the (good) habit of naming your stuff (rule #2), description text really helps getting around projects quickly, but requiring mouse hover to access such valuable information is like reading a newspaper through a keyhole.
I wonder if I'm not the only user who would appreciate an option to display the timeline vertically. Please not that I'm not asking to get rid of the timeline: the vertical layout would be functionally identical to the timeline we have today, just laid out differently to provide a an alternative UX. This, in my opinion, is not a bad thing from Autodesk's perspective as users coming from other CAD applications (including Inventor) would instantly feel more "at home" with the vertical layout, and find the software more compelling.
Thank you!
