the main reason is selecing the object from the browser makes apple c apple v work
selecting it in the 3d view will not male apple c apple v work
it seems in the browser and in 3d view you can not select object fully the same way
for example to delete an object I can click on the face and press del
I cannot select the boundary and press del.
this all seems needlessly confusing.
