UI: Constraint visibility control

UI: Constraint visibility control

I'd like to see more control over the way we see the visibility of constraints in a sketch. Currently they can be displayed, or not displayed. I'd like to be able to turn on or off their visibility by sketch entity or group of entities.

How would you want to control this?

I would prefer the display of constraints to preview as you are drawing the sketch entity. When that entity is finished, I would like the constraint visibility disappear until you use a command to make the sketch constraints visible. This could be globally for the entire sketch, entity by entity, or by window selection.

Whenever it it makes sense, I'd like Inventor and Fusion to share as much DNA as possible. But only when the commands are very similar.

I like how in SolidWorks if you click on an entity you can see all the sketch relations in a neat little window.

But more importantly, I'd just like a check box somewhere that lets you hide them.

Voted For. BTW, Fusion 360 also highlights sketch relations. e.g when you have symmetry between two lines and a center line. Its just not as neatly done as in SW I agree.

We do have these neat little animations for joints. How about a little anmation that makes the constraint relations more jump out (pun intended 🙂 when you click on a constraint ?

Also, I could imagine a hotkey to make them visible while the hotkey when visibility is set to "off" globally and vice versa.

I would like to see sketch constraints in the browser (only while editing that sketch). That way we could turn visibility on/off as a whole or individually. Also it would make it much easier to select a specific constraint (e.g. a pattern), and rename them to meaningful names.

In Solidworks you can also repair constraints if they break (like if a referenced entity disappears).

I guess this is solved but I didn't manage to find a 'how to'. Is it possible to add a link to a manual how to use this new feature?

I'm with Tomas....this has been implemented, but how to use the feature?  I would think it would be down with the other visibility choices, particularly Object Visibility?

I would also be interested in a way to disable the visibility of constraints (toggle them all on/off).  If that's in the current version (2.0.3034), then I must be looking in the wrong place, as it doesn't appear to be in the "Display Settings" -> "Object Visibility" menu.  Thanks!

Ah, I found how to hide them -- there is a "Show Constraints" option that can be unchecked in the "Sketch Palette".  Excellent!
