I would like to see the ability to change the intensity and color of the selection preview when hovering over geometry. I prefer to use a dark background and the selection preview highlighting is very bright and distracting to me. The problem is especially bad when zoomed in close on geometry and large sections of the viewport flash as the mouse hovers from one face to the next. I think it would be useful to have the ability to adjust how bright this affect is or turn it off completely.
