Ordinate dimensioning x and y together in one label

Ordinate dimensioning x and y together in one label

I would like to have the option to select how ordinate dimensions are laid out.

I would like x and y together on one side of the part. (see attached .pdf)

When I use a milling machine with a digital readout it simply shows the x and y coordinates. I don't like to have to search all over my sketch for the x coordinate, which is on one side of the part, and the y coordinate which is somewhere on the other side of the part. I would much prefer to have them together in one dimension label.

Back in the old days (1986) I used to run a program that did it this way and I found it was much easier and there was less chance for me to select the wrong dimension by mistake.

Thanks. Hope others agree 🙂

Great idea!

Also applicable to CNC mills w/built-in controllers for simpler jobs that don't need CAM generation of input files.

This feature would be quite helpful when you are in front of the mill (manual or cnc) drilling holes etc.  Traditional dimensioning can be

can become cluttered and confusing when all you want to do is drill a few holes

I would also love this feature for when i'm programming milled parts on my mazatrol lathe (with live tooling) It's much easier to use x/y coords.
