Mousewheel to cycle through selectable points, lines and objects

Mousewheel to cycle through selectable points, lines and objects

Sometimes I want to select a point, but it is close to points from other, nearby shapes. I can zoom way in and click my point, but it takes too long to keep doing.

I suggest making it so that scrollong in the mouse wheel will cycle through points, lines, faces and what not that are within a user specified radius of distance to the thing the mouse is currently pointing to.

In this image the mouse is pointing at the line belonging to the grey shape. I want the line belonging to the brown shape. One mouse wheel "click" in either direction should switch the mouse selection to the brown shape's line.

I realize the example isn't fantastic as you could simply move the mouse to the brown shape's line, away from the grey shape, but see beyond the example.

Also the object that "has" the line I want should be clearly highlighted as well - so if I scroll the mouse wheel and get the the brown shape's line instead, the entire brown shape should become blue so I know that the line I can now select by left clicking is, in fact, belonging to the brown shape.

In SolidEdge, if you hover your mouse it will show an elipsis. Then if you click, it shows a menu that contains all entities that are under your mouse. It's a really nice way to select stuff if working in a complex part.

but it is not ideal as it does not highlight what vertex from what object you can select like here

Holding down the mouse button will bring up the pick list.
