More advanced stock viewing options in simulation

More advanced stock viewing options in simulation

It would be awesome if you could save stock as machined from a previos setup and apply it to a new setup.

For example if setup 1 machined the bottom of a part and then setup 2 machined the top of the part it would be great if you could simulate setup 1 with stock checked and removed and then apply that stock to setup 2 so you can see how the two machining operations tie together.

It would also be awesome if you could render your machined stock to get a better idea of visual surface finish.

Perhaps in the simulate window have an option to convert the machined stock to a solid body or probably even better a whole new component that you could then take into render to play with.

This is a commonly requested feature, and definitely in our roadmap. I can't give an estimate of when it would be available, however.

Thanks for the request!

This is super handy in any kind of complex part or mold work. Saving the iterative process of running long tool paths just to see if a small finish detail runs correctly.

@yoshimitsuspeed I don't know if this is what you're after or when it was added but if you pause a simulation and right click you get this menu.

I only just looked at it and it looks like I could save the stock from a previous op and then load it into that op so it sounds like that would do what I wanted. Seems like an awful convoluted workaround though.

I was thinking like if there was an option in that dropdown that used the stock from previous ops showing the material that had been removed in that op. So I guess basically the same thing witout having to save from one then import into the other.
I will play with those options next time i am machining something on both sides.

My request is pretty mush the same as previous comments.

When working with several setups on one part it would help to save the machined stock as a solid and reuse it as stock for the next setup.

It cant be that faraway as you can load a solid as stock already, the problem is saving the machined stock as a solid.

Hope you get time to address this issue soon.
