Make User Parameters available in CAM

Make User Parameters available in CAM

Please make User Parameters (currently defined & maintained in the Model workspace) available in the CAM workspace as well.

User Parameters are an awesome capability! One way that I use them is to store the dimensions of the stock that I am currently using. These dimensions are tied to Sketches, so that a single change causes the entire project to automatically resize appropriately.

These same parameters could be used in CAM to, for instance, calculate the number of Stepdowns needed for a Trace operation - larger stock might need more Stepdowns, etc.

Thanks,

Gerry Kmack

I like the conpect of this.

I also think that it would help to explain some more of the use cases as we may find that there are better ways some solve many of the specific use cases.

Yes, there are so many ways this would be helpful.

I would like this as well. I use parameters to model a cutter with a certain number of "wings". When I go into CAM, it would be very useful to have my model parameter "NumberOfWings" in the "number of instances" in my circular pattern instead of having to manually tell it a number. Same goes for my linear patterns for inserting the correct "NumberOfHoles" and "HoleSpacing" for the number of instances and spacing.

I can't believe Autodesk is blowing this request off off!

Aren't you supposed to be building a parametric system?
