Make Tool Shape More Representative in CAM

Make Tool Shape More Representative in CAM

An issue I've run into a few times involves the very rough approach Fusion takes to simulating a tools shape in the tool library. Most cutters that are small than 1/8" taper from a 1/8" shaft.

This gives the tool extra clearance during surfacing operations. However, Fusion models the tool a descrete step. This makes it very difficult to do collision detection, and it unaccurately reports many more collisions than would actually happen.

Could we add an option to the tool setup page where the shaft diameter could be tapered to the cutting diamter? It would help collision detection a ton!

You can add cone shapes into the shape like this.

Try experimenting using the shaft tab.
